Sally McAfee – ADHD Coach
Sally McAfee, M.Ed. has worked with young people and families for over 30 years. She works to ignite and spark that positive energy of the child in all of us to express itself through our adult lives and work. By shining the light on our personal and professional lives, she contributes creativity, enthusiasm and excitement to all of our endeavors. Sally models these positive qualities with her clients through conveying her humor, spontaneity, and warmth.
On a continuous path of self-exploration herself, Sally’s depth of life experience enables her to provide a safe and inviting space for clients to deeply explore mind, body and spirit, profoundly and positively transforming their current quality of life.
In addition to working with young people and families, Sally worked as an internal and external consultant for corporate and non-profit organizations for 25 years. As a corporate consultant, she trained managers and executives to be more effective in their Public Speaking, Problem Solving and Decision Making, Negotiations, and Positive Leadership.
Some of her clients include CIGNA Corp., Astra Zeneca, and Strawbridge & Clothier. By focusing on, and drawing out, the strengths in her clients, Sally facilitated productivity improvement and leadership effectiveness for individual executives and their teams.
As a mental health clinician, Sally worked as a Family Therapist serving inner city residents. She received family systems training from some of the premiere experts in the field from The Children’s’ Hospital of Philadelphia as well as from Hahnemann and Jefferson Medical Colleges and Hospitals. Sally then transferred her growing expertise in this field into a teaching and administrative position at Hahnemann Medical College, becoming the Assistant Director of the Mental Health Technology Associate Degree Program.
In the non-profit sector, Sally learned to understand and help people handle the constant change that so many of us experience in life today. She traveled through out the country creating and implementing programs in Conflict Resolution, Peer Mediation and Bias Awareness.
In the process of doing so, Sally became an excellent group facilitator, teaching people to listen deeply and learn to manage and resolve conflict. Based on this experience, Sally went on to become a workshop and meeting facilitator for non-profit organizations and Advisory Boards.
As a school counselor for over 20 years, Sally created a Guidance Department in a Middle School and implemented “circle justice” district-wide as an alternative to the traditional disciplinary process. Working with students with learning differences increased her sensitivity and responsiveness to the unique way each individual understands and perceives the world.
Recognizing the gifts embedded in the challenges of learning differences and Attention Deficit Disorder deepened Sally’s commitment and ability to help her clients discover and build on their innate talents to transcend their challenges. Empowering young people, families and staff to learn to communicate and problem solve was one of the most satisfying elements of her counseling career.
Sally earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Bucknell University and a Masters degree in Counseling from Antioch University. She is also a graduate of both CoachU and The Six Advisors Coaching Academy. Sally thrives on learning and her greatest passion is to enable people to expand their own possibilities.
